The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently published a study that correlates having three or more servings a day of whole grain foods with decreased belly fat.
Previous observational studies have shown that including whole grain foods in the diet, taken instead of refined sugars, significantly decreases body mass index, abdominal fat and risks for cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, diets that include mostly refined grains were associated with increased abdominal girth and tendency to increase body weight.
